Our Story Founded By Bethany Richards Finding out years ago that my father has Parkinson's Disease, I attached a donation box to my bicycle and began pedaling towards a cure. With much community support, Bike Box Project became an official non-profit in 2016 and is now eastern North Carolina's resource for people with Pd and their caregivers. In 2020, with support from local grants to get certified and to purchase equipment, we began hosting Rock Steady Boxing...a beneficial fitness class that allows people with PD to FIGHT BACK! With growth and continued support, we recently moved into our very own gym and headquarters for Bike Box Project in August 2022! Bike Box Project is dedicated to giving hope to people with Parkinson's disease, particularly those in our local community, by raising awareness and funds to meet their needs and the needs of their caregivers. Our signature awareness bicycle ride, Bernin' to the Beach, occurs the last Saturday each October and all funds raised are contributed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in support of a cure.
